The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has begun emergency repairs on the M-123 culvert over Auger Creek, located north of Newberry in Luce County. The project requires a lane closure starting today.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane at the site, and temporary traffic signals have been installed to manage alternating traffic flow. The closure will remain until repairs are finished. MDOT stated that updates regarding the repair schedule will be provided when available.
According to MDOT, "Closing the lane is necessary to keep motorists safe and prevent further damage to the roadway."
This measure is being taken as a safety precaution for drivers and to protect the integrity of the road infrastructure.
