The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will hold its twelfth community meeting regarding the I-375 project in Detroit on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025. The event will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Eastern, located at 3434 Russell St., with a presentation scheduled to begin at 5:50 p.m.
According to MDOT, attendees will have the chance to engage directly with the project team and partners. The meeting aims to provide updates on the current pause in the project, review accomplishments so far, discuss proposed changes, and offer details about upcoming utility construction activities.
For those unable to attend in person, MDOT will livestream the meeting starting at 5:45 p.m., and presentation materials will be available on the project website after the event.
Accessibility services are available for participants who need assistance related to mobility, visual or hearing needs, or other forms of support. "Attendees who require mobility, visual, hearing, written or other assistance for effective participation should contact Orlando Curry at 517-241-7462 or CurryO@Michigan.gov preferably at least five business days prior to the scheduled meeting. Forms are located on the Title VI webpage. Requests made after this timeframe will be evaluated and honored to the extent possible," MDOT stated.
The I-375 project proposes converting the existing freeway into a street-level boulevard with signalized intersections between Macomb and Franklin streets. MDOT notes that this initiative is intended to improve neighborhood mobility and access while enhancing environmental quality and taking an equitable approach that acknowledges the history of Detroit's former Black Bottom and Paradise Valley neighborhoods.
Public input remains a key part of MDOT’s process for this project. "MDOT continues to seek public participation and welcomes input. Comments can be submitted via email, by phone at 855-375-MDOT (6368), on the project website and in person at the community meeting," according to MDOT.
