A new computer system, MiUI, is set to be introduced by the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) at the end of this year. Employers and third-party administrators (TPAs) are advised to take several preparatory steps.
Employers will manage their own MiUI accounts and can grant access to TPAs as necessary. It is important that account information in the current system, MiWAM, accurately reflects the employer rather than the TPA.
Employers should be aware of how TPAs represent them and what functions they perform on their behalf, such as submitting wage reports or making payments. Additionally, it is crucial for employers and TPAs to identify who currently has access to their MiWAM account since these users will need to be added to the new MiUI system.
To activate an account or user profile in MiUI, employers must have their primary employer account number (EAN) and federal employer identification number (FEIN). Both pieces of information are essential during activation.
Organizations should determine which departments or individuals require information about the MiUI rollout. This could include Human Resources or IT teams. These parties should subscribe to receive the Employer Advisor newsletter from UIA monthly for updates on the MiUI system rollout.
