The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) has opened the application period for the 2025 Michigan Ag Exporter of the Year award. This annual recognition is given to a business in the food, agriculture, or forest product sectors that has shown significant success in expanding its exports.
Eligibility for this award extends to producers, manufacturers, or shippers of Michigan-based food, agriculture, and forest products actively seeking international markets. To qualify, more than half of the exported products must be grown, processed, or manufactured within Michigan. Companies of any size are invited to apply before the deadline at 5 p.m. on March 31, 2025.
"Michigan-made food, agriculture and forest products are making a global impact and represent one of the diverse ways our industry feeds the state's economic prosperity," stated MDARD Director Tim Boring. “The international market opportunities in Michigan continue to grow, and we are proud to celebrate those who are having success in that area.”
Since its inception in 2006, the Michigan Ag Exporter of the Year award has highlighted businesses achieving export growth. Details about past winners can be found on MDARD's website along with information about Banks Hardwoods, recognized as the 2024 Ag Exporter of the Year.
