Northern Michigan wrestling ranks nationally; Roth enters top five

The Northern Michigan wrestling team has achieved a national ranking of 11th in tournament play, according to the latest poll from The Open Mat. Marisa Roth has been ranked 4th in the 143 weight class, with teammates Noelle Gaffney and Abigale Swanson also securing spots in their respective classes.

Marisa Roth boasts a 9-1 record in tournament competition this season. At the Pointer Open, she secured third place with a 5-1 performance. Competing in the 155 weight class, Noelle Gaffney has achieved a record of 13-2, including an undefeated 5-0 streak that led her to victory at the Adrian Invite. Abigale Swanson holds a record of 12-6 and claimed fourth place at the Pointer Open with a 4-2 mark.

The Wildcats earned 35 points in the poll, trailing Gannon by seven points for the No. 10 spot. North Central leads with 245 votes.

In its third season as a program, Northern Michigan is gaining national attention. The team will compete again on December 17th when they host the Wildcat Duals in Marquette.
