NMU secures four podium finishes on day two at GLIAC Championships

The Northern Michigan University (NMU) men's swimming and diving team secured four podium finishes on the second day of the GLIAC Championships in Holland, Michigan. The Wildcats currently stand in third place with 320.5 points, trailing Grand Valley State with 391.5 points and Wayne State with 332 points.

NMU participated in several events today, including the 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 free, 3-meter diving, and the 400 medley relay. They achieved medals in four out of these five events.

Leo Nolles earned a bronze medal in the 100 fly with a time of 47.33 seconds, setting a new school record. Daniel Lopez-Aponte also claimed a bronze medal in the 400 IM with a time of 3:53.84. Alessandro Rosatelli secured another bronze for NMU in the 200 free by clocking in at 1:37.43, which is also a new school record.

In the final event of the day, NMU's team consisting of Ian Rocheleau, Wyatt Dickman, William LaCount, and Nolles won silver in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:11.17.

The Wildcats are preparing for tomorrow's events that include the 500 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, 100 Breaststroke, 200 Butterfly, and an 800 Freestyle Relay. Preliminary rounds begin at 10 a.m., followed by finals at 5:30 p.m., both available to stream on FloSwimming.
