The Northern cross country team participated in the Roy Griak Invitational held in Falcon Heights, Minnesota. Competing against 38 teams, they secured a 12th-place finish. This event served as a mid-season assessment for the young Wildcats, testing their capabilities against top national contenders.
Madi Szymanski was the leading runner for Northern, finishing in 15th place with a time of 22:52.7. She initially placed fifth at the first mile with a time of 5:42.2 and moved to ninth at the halfway mark of 3,000 meters with a time of 10:48.7.
Ava Maginity followed Szymanski for the Wildcats, securing an 80th-place finish at 24:25.4 and completing her first mile under six minutes at 5:54.1.
Skylar Grubb also finished within the top-100 runners, placing 90th with a time of 24:34.3.
Gianna Bomarito from Sonoma State claimed victory in the Division II race with a time of 21:44.2.
The Wildcats will next compete on October 7th at the Lewis Crossover in Romeoville, Illinois after taking a break over the coming weekend.
