Midland residents have an opportunity to help set the City of Midland’s future priorities for the next 30 years – and they can do it in a new ‘choose-your-own-adventure” style survey opportunity.

In new surveys on the City’s public engagement platform, E-CityHall, residents can rank what focus areas they believe should be given highest priority in the City’s new Master Plan. Topics for consideration include housing, utilities, waste management, energy, natural resources, zoning, community engagement, and more.

Visitors to www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/ecityhall will have two options for participation: A short, less-detailed survey that should take less than 10 minutes to complete and a longer, more in-depth survey that should take 25 – 30 minutes to complete. Residents can choose which survey to take based on their interest level and time commitment.

Both surveys will help the Midland Planning Commission and City staff prioritize the goals and objectives to be included in the City’s new Master Plan. The deadline to participate in either survey is March 1, 2023.

Once completed, the results of the survey will be shared with the Midland Planning Commission, City staff, and the general public. Results will be available on the City’s E-CityHall platform at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/ecityhall and shared at upcoming Planning Commission meetings.

Residents who do not have internet access or cannot complete the survey online are invited to attend an upcoming pop-up planning studio or contact the City’s Planning Department at 989-837-3374.

The City’s Master Plan serves as the City’s official policy guide and strategy for community improvements and development over the next 30 years. Master plans seek to maintain stabilization in cities while directing redevelopment and change, increasing livability and neighborhoods, and transforming it into a more sustainable, innovative, accessible, attractive, and economically vibrant community. The City’s last comprehensive master planning process took place in 2005 – 2006.
