A Tuscola County resident, Shannon Dominowski, has claimed a $1 million prize from the Michigan Lottery after keeping an eye on the growing Mega Millions jackpot. Dominowski shared that she doesn't frequently play Mega Millions but decided to purchase a ticket when she noticed the increasing jackpot in November.
"I don’t play Mega Millions all that often, but when the jackpot gets high, I will buy a ticket here and there," said Dominowski. "Back in November, I was in my Lottery account and happened to see the jackpot was growing so I bought a ticket."
Upon checking her account the following day, Dominowski discovered her win. "The next day I logged in to my account and I was absolutely floored when I saw that I had won $1 million! It is life-changing for me and my family," she stated.
Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli extended her congratulations: "Congratulations to Shannon and her family on becoming Michigan’s newest millionaire. The excitement of logging in to your Lottery account and seeing that you have a huge prize waiting for you is unmatched!"
Dominowski matched five white balls—25-28-42-64-69—in the Nov. 8 drawing, securing her prize through an online purchase at MichiganLottery.com. She recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim her winnings and plans to invest them for retirement.
Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday evening. Each play costs $2, with an option for players to add a “Megaplier” for an additional $1 per play, potentially multiplying non-jackpot prizes by up to five times. Tickets are available across 45 states, Washington D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
