Bridge and road work on I-75 in northern Oakland County is set to resume in early March. The Michigan Department of Transportation plans to invest approximately $160 million to resurface and repair I-75 from M-15 (Ortonville Road) to the Oakland/Genesee county line. The project will include resurfacing I-75, repairing 11 bridges, drainage improvements, culvert replacements, signs, and guardrails. Various tasks will be carried out in different locations with distinct schedules over the 15 miles across four years.

This year, southbound I-75 will undergo milling and resurfacing from M-15 to the county line. Two lanes of northbound and southbound traffic will share the northbound side of the freeway during this period. Bridge repairs are planned throughout the project limits along southbound I-75, with completion expected by late fall.

In 2026, crews are scheduled to remove temporary crossovers and conduct remaining miscellaneous activities.

Funding for this project comes from Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's Rebuilding Michigan program aimed at rebuilding state highways and bridges that are crucial for the state's economy and bear significant traffic volumes. "The investment strategy is aimed at fixes that result in longer useful lives and improve the condition of the state's infrastructure."

According to economic modeling, this investment is anticipated to directly and indirectly support 1,936 jobs.
