As the community comes together to celebrate Midland Neighboring Week September 26 – October 2, several City of Midland departments invite residents to join in on the fun with several family-friendly, free activities and events.
See your city in a new, fun way – and win prizes! – as Midland Parks and Recreation invites residents on a Neighbor Chase scavenger hunt from September 26 – October 10. Sleuths should visit www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/hunt to register and download the Eventzee app on a mobile device to receive their instructions and participate in photo, video, and GPS-related challenges and more! All participants who complete the scavenger hunt and submit their winning responses by Sunday, October 10 at 11:59 p.m. will receive a prize.
Midland Police Department will host a car seat check, cookout, and non-perishable food drive at the Law Enforcement Center, 2727 Rodd Street, on Monday, September 26 from 4 – 7 p.m. Certified car seat technicians will be on site to provide free car seat safety checks for caregivers. All non-perishable food items collected will be donated to The Bridge Food Center. Every person who donates a non-perishable food item will receive a hot dog, chips, and other refreshments during the event.’
On Wednesday, September 28, visit the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library from 5:30 – 7 p.m. for a unique event: Floats with Goats! Enjoy Faygo floats created by celebrity scoopers, as well as a petting zoo, yard games, and crafts for the family. Cones of animal feed will be available to purchase for $1 and carrots will be available for $3 (cash only, please).
Ward 4 City Councilwoman Diane Brown Wilhelm invites residents of her ward to ‘get their game on’ for a family-friendly evening of yard games, card games, board games, and more on Wednesday, September 28 at Plymouth Park, 1508 E. Wheeler Street, in Shelter F from 6 – 7:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring snacks, their children, and their neighbors to enjoy the fun!
Midland Neighboring Week is a weeklong, citywide celebration dedicated to promoting community wellbeing and belonging in Midland. While the initiative is currently led by the Cultural Awareness Coalition of the Midland Area Community Foundation, every individual and organization is encouraged to participate in their own way!
