City of Rockford issued the following announcement on Oct 1.
October is Fire Prevention Month. Help keep your family safe by installing smoke alarms on every level of your home and in every bedroom. Replace any smoke alarms older than 10 years old. Change the batteries in your smoke alarms every 6 months (when you change your clocks). Test alarms monthly by pushing the “test” button for 3-5 seconds to make sure they are working.
