City of Midland issued the following announcement on July 13.
Wheeler Street will be closed to all through traffic from Birchwood Drive to Foster Road on Wednesday, July 14 as crews perform additional sanitary sewer repairs within the construction zone. This work was scheduled to be completed on Tuesday, July 13, but was postponed due to weather.
During this closure, both eastbound and westbound through traffic will be detoured around the construction area using Waldo Avenue, E. Ashman Street, and Swede Avenue. Wheeler will be open to two-way local traffic for those traveling to or from a destination within the construction zone.
Wheeler will reopen to eastbound traffic and remain closed to westbound traffic on Wednesday, July 14, weather permitting. Motorists traveling through the construction zone should drive with caution.
The Wheeler Street reconstruction and water main replacement project is estimated to be completed in October 2021.
