On March 25, the Michigan State Republican party posted guidance on its Facebook page for residents regarding vehicle registrations and driver's licenses.

In a statement released by Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, it was announced that all Secretary of State offices are temporarily closed, as of March 24. The statement offers a list of frequently asked questions and answers for some of residents' top concerns.

For transactions that can be completed online, residents are encouraged to utilize online applications. Secretary of State offices are unable to receive or send mail during the closure, so whenever possible, citizens are directed to use the online system. Forthcoming appointments have been canceled.

Law-enforcement agencies across the state have been notified of department closures and are encouraged to exercise discretion at this time, as drivers' ability to update vehicle registration and licenses have been affected. Commercial driver's license renewals are limited exclusively to those who transport services and goods necessary for sustaining life.
