The NMU women's alpine ski team had a notable performance at the National Championships in Bend, Oregon. The team achieved both individual and team successes in the slalom event.
Reagan Olli secured a bronze medal with a time of 1:33.51. She posted the second-fastest times in both runs, finishing narrowly behind second place by 0.06 seconds and first place by 0.62 seconds. This achievement earned her another first-team All-America honor.
As a team, the Wildcats finished second with a combined time of 4:49.02, trailing Rocky Mountain College's 4:42.16 and ahead of Castleton's 4:52.65.
Ainsley Kirk also performed well, earning a second-team All-America honor by finishing ninth with a time of 1:36.17. Her run times were among the top ten fastest for each segment of the race.
Ella Wichert completed her runs in 20th place with a total time of 1:39.34, while Maddy Stern ended up in 49th place after posting a combined time of 1:47.40.
Tommie Springer did not finish her second run after being ranked 33rd following her first attempt.
Reagan Olli was fourth to take on the slopes during the morning session and recorded an impressive run one time of 46.50, setting herself up for a strong podium chance as she concluded second for that segment.
Kirk and Wichert also showed strong performances during their initial runs, placing them within striking distance for competitive finishes later in the day.
During the evening session, Olli maintained her position near the top by recording another quick run at 47.01, ultimately securing third place overall when Giraud finished just ahead of her.
Springer faced challenges during her runs and was unable to complete her final attempt after an early spill on the course.
Overall, NMU demonstrated solid skiing capabilities through their collective efforts at this championship event.
