The Northern Michigan University (NMU) women's golf team is set to participate in the SVSU Spring Invitational this weekend. The event will take place at the Cherry Blossom Golf Club in Georgetown, Kentucky, on March 16-17.

Cherry Blossom Golf Club, designed by Clyde Johnston, is a par-72 course spanning 6,856 yards. It features rolling fairways and strategically placed bunkers. The course's undulating greens and scenic layout along Lanes Run Creek present both a natural beauty and a competitive challenge for the participants.

Weather forecasts predict mild but breezy conditions in Georgetown over the weekend. Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 74°F on Friday and 69°F on Saturday with lows of 50°F and 58°F respectively. There is also a 75% chance of rain on Saturday which could affect play, especially in open areas where wind may influence shot selection.

Live scoring for the tournament will be available through Scoreboard by Clipped once links are provided.

The NMU team traveling to Kentucky includes Maddy Martens, Abbie Pietila, Maggie Pietila, Hailey Bolander, Gabriella Moreau, Olivia Brill (independent), and Abby Luke (independent).

In their previous outing at the Saddlebrook Spring Kickoff in Florida, NMU finished sixth with a three-day team total of +207. Maggie Pietila led the Wildcats with a 13th-place finish at +38. She achieved four birdies during the tournament and was among the top performers in par-three and par-four scoring categories. Maddy Martens followed as NMU's second-best finisher at 20th place with +50. Abbie Pietila and Hailey Bolander completed NMU's top four finishes at positions 26th and 27th respectively.

Despite challenging weather conditions including wind and rain during their last tournament, head coach Ben Johnson emphasized adapting to difficult environments as crucial for success.
