The Mackinac Straits Corridor Authority (MSCA) is set to convene on February 28 in Lansing. The meeting will focus on the construction, maintenance, and operation of a utility tunnel beneath the Straits of Mackinac. The agenda for the meeting can be accessed on the MSCA website.

The event will be streamed live on YouTube, providing an opportunity for community members, interested residents, MDOT staff, and contractors to participate virtually.

Scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the meeting will take place at the Library of Michigan located at 702 W. Kalamazoo St., Lansing, MI 48915.

For those needing assistance with mobility, visual, hearing, or other needs to effectively participate in the meeting, Orlando Curry can be contacted at 517-241-7462 or via email at CurryO@Michigan.gov. It is recommended that requests are made at least five business days before the meeting date. Requests made after this period will be considered and accommodated as much as possible.

Public comments can be submitted online or emailed to MDOT-MSCA@Michigan.gov. Individuals attending in person who wish to provide public comment will have up to three minutes each to speak.

The planned tunnel aims to replace a segment of Enbridge Line 5 light oil and natural gas liquids pipelines currently situated on the floor of the Straits. Additionally, it will support other utilities to enhance infrastructure connections between Michigan's peninsulas. Upon completion, MSCA will own and oversee the tunnel throughout its operational life.
