The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has granted a permit to Zayo for utility work on Interstate 496. The work will take place in both directions between Walnut Street and Holmes Street in Lansing, Ingham County. The project is scheduled to start at 6 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025, and is expected to conclude by 7 a.m. the same day.

During this period, motorists should be prepared for intermittent freeway closures as the work progresses. Traffic control measures will be implemented by the Michigan State Police (MSP), and drivers are advised to anticipate delays.

According to MDOT, closing the lanes is necessary to ensure the safety of both utility workers and motorists during the operation.
