The NMU women's nordic ski team began their conference championship weekend in Houghton with the mass start 20k event. Victoria Dybwad made a notable comeback to secure gold, finishing first among conference skiers with a time of 1:03:40.0. Initially in ninth place after the first 5k lap, Dybwad advanced to eighth at the 10k mark and seventh at the 15k before surging ahead to finish first among conference competitors and second overall, behind Gretta Scholz of Team Birkie.

Bridget Burns and Greta Hansen from Michigan Tech claimed silver and bronze, respectively, benefiting from their familiarity with the Tech Trails course. Burns completed her race in 1:03:41.8, while Hansen finished at 1:03:45.0.

Henriette Nilssen was the next Wildcat finisher, placing fifth among conference skiers with a final time of 1:04:10.4 after consistent lap times throughout the race.

Merle Richter and Jordan Parent also secured top-10 finishes for NMU, coming in ninth and tenth respectively with times of 1:06:11.9 and 1:06:22.8.

Ella Niznik placed 18th at 1:09:55.3, followed closely by Pearl Harvey in 19th at 1:10:10.5 to complete the lineup for NMU.

The team now prepares for tomorrow's challenge—the 7.5k individual classic event—scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m., again in Houghton.
