The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is organizing an open house on Monday, February 24, in Warren, Michigan. The event aims to provide information and answer questions about the upcoming final phase of the Restore the Reuther project on I-696 in Metro Detroit, which is set to commence in early March.

Representatives from MDOT will be present at the Fitzgerald Recreation Center to engage with community partners, city representatives, local businesses, and interested residents. The meeting is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

For those needing assistance for effective participation, Orlando Curry can be contacted at 517-241-7462 or via email at CurryO@Michigan.gov. Attendees are encouraged to make requests for mobility or other forms of assistance at least five business days before the meeting.

The final phase of the Restore the Reuther project involves significant roadwork planned between Lahser Road and I-75 during 2025-2026 and between I-75 and Dequindre Road in 2027. The project includes rebuilding roadways, repairing drainage structures, and working on bridges—60 bridges are slated for repairs. This includes reconstructing the Church Street Plaza bridge with a walkway detour implemented during construction.

Throughout this period, westbound traffic will remain operational while eastbound traffic will be redirected via southbound M-10 (Lodge Freeway), eastbound M-8 (Davison Highway), and northbound I-75 back to eastbound I-696.

More detailed information about the project can be accessed at https://DrivingOakland.com/I696-East/.
