NMU women's swim team dominates St. Cloud meet

The NMU women's swim and dive team began their regular season with a strong performance, defeating St. Cloud 148-90 on the first day of the meet in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The Wildcats secured first place in nearly all events, establishing a significant lead through event 26.

In the opening event, the 'Cats' 'A' and 'B' teams took first and second in the 200 medley relay with times of 1:46.29 and 1:48.69, respectively. Team A included Camilla Carbone, Zoe DeKievit, Alyssa Bloser, and Becca Burrows, while Team B featured Mia Strazny, Evelyn DeCarlo, Elena Curti, and Vicky Burda.

Annika Geyer and Anika Wright excelled in the 1000 freestyle by finishing first and second with times of 10:30.80 and 10:32.88. Elena Curti won the 200 freestyle at 1:54.45, followed by Carlotta Santi in second place.

Becca Burrows claimed victory in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.80, closely followed by teammate Vicky Burda at 24.92 for second place.

Zoe DeKievit achieved her second win of the evening in the 100 IM with a time of 1:01.06. Kalina Ceglinski dominated diving events by winning both the 1 meter and 3 meter dives with scores of 241.20 and 236.25 points.

Sophia Moore emerged victorious in the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.99 seconds.

The Wildcats concluded their successful day with victories in several other events including individual wins from Carbone in backstroke races and Geyer dominating freestyle distances.
