Michael Rogers recently spoke with Catherine Behrenbrinker, President and CEO of Symplicity Communications in Grand Rapids, on the SBAM Weekly Podcast. Her firm was recognized by Michigan Celebrates Small Business as an APEX Accelerator Best Small Business for 2024. During the podcast, she discussed the challenges and successes of expanding their government contracting division over the past two years.

Behrenbrinker highlighted several key areas that contributed to their success, including hiring experts and optimizing technology procurement. She emphasized the importance of leveraging resources like the APEX Accelerator program to navigate government contracts effectively. Additionally, she noted the significant impact small businesses have on the economy through job creation and innovation.

Looking ahead, Behrenbrinker aims to grow her team from 23 to 35 employees and increase revenue to $50 million. She mentioned upcoming bids for contracts worth $12.9 billion annually: "Just getting a little seat on that bus and a piece of that business makes a huge impact," she said.
