The NSGP is comprised of two funding sources: the NSGP-Urban Area (NSGP-UA) and the NSGP-State (NSGP-S). Applicants must apply under the funding source applicable to their geographic location. The NSGP-UA funds nonprofit organizations located in FEMA-designated urban areas, which in Michigan includes the counties of Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw, and Wayne. The NSGP-S funds nonprofit organizations outside the FEMA-designated urban areas. There is $152,500,000 available nationwide under each program. Eligible nonprofit organizations may apply for a maximum of $150,000.
The Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division (MSP/EMHSD) administers the NSGP in Michigan on behalf of eligible nonprofit organizations. All applications must be submitted to MSP/EMHSD, following the instructions from the websites listed below, to be considered for funding.
