East Lansing Parks, Recreation & Arts Launches Round Up for Scholarships Program

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The East Lansing Department of Parks, Recreation & Arts (ELPRA) has launched a new Round Up for Scholarships program.

The program provides community members with the opportunity to contribute to a fund used exclusively to help pay for scholarships for children and adults who may not otherwise be able to financially afford to participate in ELPRA’s classes, camps and fitness offerings. Community members can contribute to these scholarships by rounding up or designating a specific dollar amount to donate when signing up for a class, buying or renewing a fitness pass or just visiting the East Lansing Hannah Community Center (ELHCC), 819 Abbot Road. Community members can round up when making purchases online or at ELHCC’s front desk.

“We hope community members will consider making a contribution through this program so that someone else can have the same, enriching experience that they will have through the recreational and arts programs we offer,” said ELPRA Director Cathy DeShambo. “Donations could help a child learn to swim or make pottery, participate in a theater program, play sports or attend summer camp. Donations could also help an adult learn to dance or paint, or maybe join a fitness class or enjoy working out in our fitness center.”

Community members can call (517) 333-2580 ext. 0 or visit ELHCC’s front desk for more information about this program and to learn how to apply for a youth or adult scholarship.
