Saline Area Schools issued the following announcement on Aug 4.
Superintendent Laatsch has announced the hiring of the next Assistant Principal of Heritage School, Cameron Cochran. “We are very excited to welcome Cameron, as he will bring a variety of different experiences to strengthen our instruction program for students.”
Cameron joins the Saline team after spending 9 years as a classroom teacher in Detroit, Lansing, and Ypsilanti. For the past five years, he served as a high school science teacher and Restorative Practices Coordinator at Washtenaw International High School and Middle Academy (WIMA & WIHI). He holds a B.A. in International Relations and an M.A. in K-12 Administration. You
After living in Saline for five years, Cameron and his family are thrilled to officially become Hornets. “I am so excited to join the team at Heritage and the larger SAS community this year. The 4th and 5th grades are such pivotal, special times in a young person’s life and I am thrilled to work with a team of talented educators to provide outstanding learning experiences and a caring, supportive atmosphere for the kids at Heritage. After such a challenging 2020-21, students are craving social connections and community building with their peers and teachers. I am excited for all of the learning and fun that lies ahead! “
Megan DeGrand looks forward to starting the school year with a new teammate. “Anytime you bring someone new to the table there is an opportunity to grow and learn from and with each other. I am looking forward to working with Cameron and bringing him along in our Heritage experience. His commitment and passion for student success, along with additional unique skill sets, were unmatched during the interview process. Cameron will be a wonderful addition to our team.”
Cameron lives in Saline with his wife, Julie and their two children, Levon (2.5), and Rosalie (10 weeks)
