Staff from the Michigan Public Health Institute (MPHI) are scheduled to present at the Michigan Association for Local Public Health's (MALPH) Michigan Premier Public Health Conference, which will take place on October 28-29, 2025, at the Van Dyk Mortgage Event Center in Muskegon. The conference is an annual gathering that includes community partners, higher education institutions, and public health organizations from across Michigan. Organizations expected to attend include the Michigan Public Health Association, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), local health departments, the University of Michigan, and Michigan State University.

MPHI subject matter experts will lead a workshop titled "Partnering With the Community for Public Health Improvement." This session aims to help participants explore community engagement practices, discuss approaches to data collection, and identify strategies to overcome challenges related to engagement.

Additionally, MPHI staff will offer a session called "Empowering Change: Innovative Strategies for a Resilient Public Health Workforce." The presentation will address topics such as workplace training innovations, capacity building efforts, leadership development techniques, use of technology and ethical artificial intelligence in virtual learning environments, strengthening interdisciplinary partnerships, and establishing sustainable talent recruitment and retention pipelines.

Dr. Paul Elam, Chief Strategy Officer at MPHI, will join a panel with representatives from MDHHS, Detroit Health Department, and Detroit Life is Valuable Everyday. The panel discussion is titled "Community Violence Intervention (CVI) as a Public Health and Public Safety Strategy for Michigan Communities." Panelists will examine how CVI can reduce violence-related trauma while improving overall community well-being and safety. They will reference experiences from programs like Advance Peace, DLIVE, and Ceasefire Detroit.
