The Northern Michigan Wildcats men's ice hockey team was defeated 4-2 by the Michigan Tech Huskies on Saturday at the Berry Events Center in Marquette. The loss concluded a weekend series between the Upper Peninsula rivals.

The Wildcats, who remain winless this season with a record of 0-12-0 overall and 0-4-0 in CCHA play, opened the scoring early. Jakub Altrichter netted his second goal of the weekend just one and a half minutes into the game. The Wildcats initially outshot the Huskies 7-1, but Michigan Tech responded when Lauri Raiman scored to tie the game before the first period media timeout.

Michigan Tech, now 7-3-0 overall and undefeated in conference play at 4-0-0, took control in the second period. Carson Latimer and freshman Teydon Trembecky each scored for the Huskies, giving them a two-goal lead heading into intermission.

Northern Michigan narrowed the deficit late in regulation. Sophomore defenseman Joe Schiller scored his second goal of the season during a power play with five minutes remaining. However, after NMU pulled their goalie for an extra attacker, Stiven Sardarian secured an empty-net goal for Michigan Tech with 24 seconds left.

Despite being outshot 31-25 by Michigan Tech—though both teams recorded 54 shot attempts—the Wildcats' special teams performed well. They converted one of two power plays and successfully killed all three Husky man advantages.

Jakub Altrichter now has eight points in seven career games against Michigan Tech, leading all active NMU players in that category. Joe Schiller's two goals this season are tied for most among CCHA sophomore defensemen. Forward Bolduc contributed two assists over the weekend; Pitka leads NMU with six points so far this year.

Goaltender Auyeung-Ashton made 27 saves for Northern Michigan, posting a .900 save percentage on Saturday night.

The Wildcats will have a bye next week before traveling to face Bemidji State on November 21 and 22.
