The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has announced an open house to inform the public about planned road improvements scheduled for 2026 in the city of Charlotte, Eaton County. The event will focus on resurfacing and operational upgrades for M-79 (Lawrence Avenue) and M-50 (Cochran Avenue).
The open house is set for Wednesday, October 29, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Charlotte City Hall, located at 111 E. Lawrence Ave., Charlotte, MI 48813. MDOT is encouraging interested residents, commuters, community stakeholders, and local businesses to attend.
According to MDOT, the planned work includes resurfacing and operational improvements on M-79 (Lawrence Avenue)/I-69 Business Loop from Vanlieu Street to Harris Street, as well as on M-50 (Cochran Avenue) from Beech Highway to M-79 (Lawrence Avenue)/I-69 Business Loop.
MDOT has provided contact information for those seeking further details or requiring special assistance to participate in the event: "Attendees who require mobility, visual, hearing, written, or other assistance for effective participation should contact Orlando Curry at 517-241-7462 or CurryO@Michigan.gov, preferably at least five business days prior to the scheduled meeting. Forms are located on the Title VI webpage. Requests made after this timeframe will be evaluated and honored to the extent possible."
