Michigan’s Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) is nearing the completion of a multi-year project to modernize its technology platform. The current system, MiWAM, will be replaced by a new platform called MiUI. Employers and third-party administrators are scheduled to begin using MiUI on December 15, 2025, while claimants will transition to the new system in summer 2026.

To assist employers with this change, UIA has launched an informational website called MiUI University. The site provides updates and resources for those preparing to move from MiWAM to MiUI. Regular updates are posted as the launch date approaches.

As part of the transition process, UIA has published a rollout schedule that outlines when certain functions in the current system will be discontinued. Employers may need to use paper documentation or delay some activities until the new system is available after December 15.

Employers seeking more details about the upcoming changes can visit the UIA’s “MiUI University” website for guidance and support.
