The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will close Henry Joy Boulevard at I-94 in Macomb County starting October 6. The closure is necessary to complete repairs on the westbound I-94 bridge over Henry Joy Boulevard, which was damaged by a high-load vehicle strike last fall.

Both eastbound and westbound lanes of Henry Joy Boulevard will be closed between M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) and Irwin Drive while crews work on the bridge. Local traffic will still have access to Henry Joy Boulevard between Gratiot Avenue and Lenfesty Drive.

For drivers affected by the closure, detour routes have been established. Eastbound motorists should use southbound M-3 (Gratiot Avenue), southbound Market Street, eastbound North River Road, and northbound Irwin Drive. Westbound traffic should follow southbound Irwin Drive, westbound North River Road, and northbound M-3 (Gratiot Avenue).

According to MDOT, "Henry Joy Boulevard will reopen on Wednesday, Oct. 8."

The department encourages motorists to follow posted detours and plan for additional travel time during the closure period.
