The Michigan Lottery and Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) have announced an eight-year extension of their partnership, continuing to offer lottery games to travelers passing through the airport. The agreement allows for the placement of lottery vending machines throughout both the McNamara and Evans (North) Terminals, providing access to instant games as well as draw games such as Mega Millions and Powerball. Redemption centers are also available at DTW, enabling players to cash winning tickets valued up to $600.
As part of the extended partnership, bars and restaurants within the airport will now be able to become official Lottery retailers. This change introduces popular games like Club Keno and Cash Pop to airport visitors for the first time.
“This groundbreaking extension gives the Lottery unprecedented access to provide millions of travelers with the option to play popular Lottery games while they are visiting DTW,” said Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli. “The Lottery team is focused on meeting players where they are, and this agreement allows us to do just that, with the ability to expand our reach to bars and restaurants within the airport. This partnership provides excellent exposure for Lottery games and will give travelers the chance to win huge prizes playing their favorite games like Club Keno and Cash Pop, which have never been available within the airport before.”
Wayne County Airport Authority CEO Chad Newton commented on the continued collaboration: “At Detroit Metro Airport, we are always looking for ways to enhance the travel experience for our customers. Extending our partnership with the Michigan Lottery also helps support public education in Michigan. So, it’s a win for our passengers, our state and our community.”
Since its inception in 1972, proceeds from Michigan Lottery sales have contributed nearly $30 billion toward public education through deposits into the School Aid Fund. In each of the past six fiscal years, annual contributions have exceeded $1 billion.
Detroit Metro Airport handled 33 million passengers in 2024. The facility serves as a major transportation hub with service from 18 scheduled passenger airlines offering about 800 flights daily across more than 125 nonstop destinations on three continents.
