A woman from Genesee County has won $500,000 after playing the Michigan Lottery’s Triple Red 777s instant game. The 38-year-old winner, who asked to remain anonymous, purchased her ticket at Miller Road Sunoco in Flint after finding some extra money in her pocket.
“I found some extra money in my pocket, so I stopped at the store to buy a lottery ticket,” she said. “I usually only play the Cashword scratch off tickets, but the store was out of all their Cashword games and Triple Red 777s caught my eye.
“I didn’t think I won anything at first, but I looked the ticket over one more time to be sure. When I saw the $500,000 win, my chest tightened up and I started shaking. You never think it will be you who wins the big one, and I still can’t believe I won!”
She recently claimed her prize at Lottery headquarters and plans to use her winnings to purchase a house and a new car.
The Triple Red 777s instant game began in March. So far, players have collected over $16 million in prizes from this game. Each ticket costs $5 and offers prizes between $5 and $500,000. According to Michigan Lottery officials, more than $14 million in prizes remain available for this game, including two top prizes of $500,000 and 18 prizes of $2,500.
In 2024 alone, instant games from the Michigan Lottery awarded nearly $1.8 billion to players statewide.
Tickets for these games are sold at retailers throughout Michigan.
