Today, Clifford Milam from Sault Ste. Marie was sentenced to a prison term ranging from 5 to 15 years. The sentencing took place before visiting Judge Brian Rahilly in the 50th Circuit Court located in Chippewa County. This announcement was made by Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. Milam had previously entered a no-contest plea to the charge of Attempt False Report or Threat of Terrorism as a Habitual Fourth Offender in December 2024.
Attorney General Nessel stated, “Those who work to uphold the rule of law should not fear for their safety just for doing their jobs.” She further expressed hope that this sentence would deter others from threatening or intimidating public officials without facing consequences. Nessel assured that her office remains committed to prosecuting individuals who attempt to undermine the justice system through fear or violence.
The case dates back to February 2024 when Milam threatened an assistant prosecutor and a judge at the 50th Circuit Court involved in handling cases against him.
