NMU swim and dive achieves academic success with 17 scholar all-Americans

The Northern Michigan University swimming and diving program has achieved a significant academic milestone. A total of 17 student-athletes were recognized as Scholar All-Americans for the 2024-25 season, as announced by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

To be eligible for First-Team Scholar All-America, athletes must maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher and participate in their national championship events. For Second-Team honors, athletes also need to achieve a GPA of at least 3.5 and meet specific performance criteria such as a "B" time standard for national championships or qualify for a diving zone qualification meet.

On the men's side, seven out of nine honorees made it to the first team: Benaiah Schnurstein (Social Psychology), Daniel Lopez Aponte (Environmental Science), Daniel Khmara (Cyber Defense), Gabriel Fulconi (Coaching), Leo Nolles (Coaching), William LaCount (Biochemistry), and Wyatt Dickman (Business Administration). Andrew Tease (Biochemistry) and Zachary Billotte (Sports Science) were named to the second team.

For the women, seven out of eight earned first-team recognition: Anika Wright (Economics), Annika Geyer (Art & Design), Becca Burrows (Psychology), Camilla Carbone (Business), Kalina Ceglinski (Sports Science), Mia Strazny (Biology), and Zoe DeKievit (Exercise Science). Abbie Harned received second-team honors in Nursing.

Both men's and women's teams also secured CSCAA Scholar All-America Team honors with cumulative GPAs above 3.0.
