Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes have released the second part of their podcast series on Pantsuits and Lawsuits. This series marks ten years since the U.S. Supreme Court's Obergefell v. Hodges decision, which legalized marriage equality nationwide.
The first episode, released earlier this month, featured Attorney General Nessel discussing DeBoer v. Snyder, a case she litigated that was later consolidated into Obergefell. In this episode, she shared insights into the legal and emotional challenges faced during the fight for marriage equality and its impact on families, including her own.
The newly released second episode includes April DeBoer and Jayne Rowse, a Michigan couple central to the case that contributed to the historic change. They share their personal story of resilience and hope.
"Ten years since the Obergefell decision, it’s hard not to think about the incredible plaintiffs who made marriage equality a reality," Nessel stated. "April and Jayne’s story and their courage helped change the lives of so many."
Pantsuits and Lawsuits is a biweekly podcast aimed at breaking down complex legal topics in an engaging manner. The attorneys general discuss major legal cases, policy debates, and how they contribute to justice in their communities.
The latest episode is available on major podcast platforms with a video version accessible on the Arizona Attorney General’s YouTube page.
