Wildcats place 8th at Flyer Spring Invite amid challenging conditions

After facing a delay from frost, the Wildcats participated in the Flyer Spring Invite at Cantigny Golf Club in Wheaton, Illinois, concluding in 8th place. The team completed the event with a total score of 693 (+117) after adding three strokes to their first round, while Davenport secured first place with a score of 639 (+63).

The Wildcats tackled the par threes with an average of 3.73, par fours at 4.85, and par fives at 6.05, achieving 63 pars and six birdies, trailing only four birdies behind the winners. No athletes registered an eagle during the tournament.

Hailey Bolander emerged as the leading player for the Wildcats, solidifying her position with a second-round score of 80 (+8) and concluding the event tied for 24th place with a total of 168 (+24). Bolander’s performance included a birdie on the par five 14th hole and 19 pars over the two days.

Maggie Pietila followed closely, tying for 33rd place with a score of 172 (+28). Pietila stood out on the par threes, achieving an average of 3.00 (E), and recorded 17 pars during the event.

Maddy Martens reduced her day-one score by four strokes, ending with a total of 174 (+30), which positioned her 38th. Martens contributed two birdies on the second day, including one on the par four ninth hole.

Abbie Pietila completed her rounds with a total score of 180 (+36), while Payton Dube finished at 182 (+38). Gabriella Moreau, playing as an individual, ended the tournament with a total of 190 (+46).

The Wildcats will next participate in the Bill Blazer Memorial in Grove City, Ohio, scheduled for April 7 and April 8 at the Pinnacle Golf Club. This upcoming event will include two rounds on Monday and the final round on Tuesday.
