The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Long Term Care Operations Section has released a Grant Funding Opportunity (GFO) intended to support quality-of-life improvement projects for nursing home residents. This initiative, part of the Civil Money Penalty Reinvestment Program, aims to fund projects and activities that benefit, support, and protect nursing facility residents beyond the standard required services.
Eligible applicants for this program include hospitals, healthcare organizations, academic institutions, nursing facilities, nonprofit organizations, private businesses, Native American Tribal organizations, and other organizations with the capacity to plan, implement, and evaluate projects focused on improving care and quality of life for nursing home residents.
The grant program will run from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026, with a total allocation of $5 million. Organizations wishing to apply must register for the EGrAMS system and submit a request for an application by 5 p.m., May 16. The electronic submission deadline for grant applications is 3 p.m., May 22, with technical support available through the EGrAMS Help Desk until noon that day.
To assist prospective applicants, a pre-application conference is scheduled for April 8 at 1:30 p.m. This 90-minute session will share details about the grant program and guidance on using the EGrAMS application system.
