The Northern Michigan University (NMU) men's Nordic ski team is participating in the SuperTour Finals this week. The 2024-25 Swix Cup SuperTour Finals, organized by the National Nordic Foundation, will take place in Lake Placid. This event gathers top racers from across the United States, including those with international experience.
The competition consists of four races and determines the overall SuperTour standings. Athletes who rank at the top will earn a spot in Period 1 of the 2025-26 World Cup. The finals also offer racers a chance to familiarize themselves with Lake Placid's trails before the 2026 World Cup Finals.
Kristoffer Karsrud leads NMU's team, ranking as the highest-rated Wildcat and holding 11th place among collegiate athletes and 22nd overall with 48 points. These points were accumulated through sprint events at the US National Championships in Alaska earlier this season. Luke Fricker follows as 21st among collegiate athletes and 38th overall with a total of 23 points. Adrik Kraftson and Jonathan Clarke complete NMU's list of point scorers, ranking 61st and 69th respectively.
The event schedule includes various races over several days:
- Wednesday, March 26: Men's 10 km Individual Start Freestyle
- Friday, March 28: Women & Men’s Individual Sprint Qualification Freestyle followed by National Championship Sprint Final
- Saturday, March 29: National Championship Mixed Relay
