Seven Northern Michigan wrestlers earn NWCA Scholar All-American honors

The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) has announced the 2025 NCAA Women's Scholar All-American Awards. Seven members of the Northern Michigan women's wrestling team have been honored for their academic and athletic achievements.

To qualify for this recognition, student-athletes must meet specific criteria. These include placing in the top eight at nationals with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, competing in at least 15 matches recorded in TRACKWRESTLING with a GPA of at least 3.5, or being a national qualifier with a GPA of at least 3.25.

The Wildcats who received this accolade are Sophia Bassino, majoring in Biology; Alissa Caltagirone, studying Nursing; Samantha Chaon, also in Biology; Kailyn Garrett, focusing on Applied Exercise Science and Health Management; Sharon Leon, pursuing Criminal Justice; Zhivanna Magdaleno, majoring in Political Science; and Sara Schroder, enrolled in Pre-Nursing.
