A Wayne County resident, Charmaine Tate from Van Buren Township, has won a significant prize from the Michigan Lottery's Lucky For Life game. Tate secured the $25,000 a year for life prize by matching five white balls drawn on February 9: 08-13-22-28-39. The winning ticket was purchased at Canton Mini Mart located on Cherry Hill Road in Canton.
Tate expressed her excitement about the win, stating, “I am an avid Lottery player and have always dreamed of winning a huge prize. When I checked the ticket at the retailer, none of us could believe what we were seeing!”
At 51 years old, Tate recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim her winnings. She opted for a one-time lump sum payment of $390,000 instead of receiving annuity payments of $25,000 annually for 20 years or life. With her winnings, she plans to purchase a new home.
Reflecting on her win, Tate remarked, “I have always thought about how it would feel and what I would do if I won but never expected to find out. Winning just feels good!”
The Lucky For Life game offers players opportunities to win prizes ranging from $3 to lifelong cash rewards for just $2 per play. To secure the top prize of $1,000 a day for life, participants must match all five numbers between 1 and 48 and one Lucky Ball between 1 and 18. Matching only the five numbers without the Lucky Ball results in winning $25,000 annually for life. Drawings occur daily at 10:38 p.m., with tickets available at retailers statewide and online.
