Men's Nordic team concludes NCAA championships; Utah tops standings

The NMU men's Nordic team concluded their participation in the 2025 NCAA Championships with the 20k mass start event. The Wildcats finished consecutively with Adrik Kraftson placing 36th at 50:50.6, Kristoffer Karsrud in 37th at 51:11.8, and Luke Fricker in 38th at 52:35.9.

Among Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) skiers, Tryg Solberg from Michigan Tech led by finishing first among conference participants and securing the 20th position overall with a time of 47:44.1, earning his team 11 points. Chase High from the College of Saint Scholastica was second among CCSA competitors, finishing in the 32nd position at 50:17.1, while Colin Freed from Michigan Tech came in 34th at 50:27.3.

Michigan Tech accumulated a total of 11 team points within the CCSA schools, whereas both Northern Michigan University (NMU) and the College of Saint Scholastica did not score any points.

A total of 40 athletes from 17 institutions competed in this event. Joe Davies from Utah emerged victorious with a time of 43:33.9, adding a gold medal to his earlier bronze win on Thursday. John Hagenbuch from Dartmouth secured silver, complementing his previous gold medal achievement on Thursday as well. Brian Bushey from Utah completed the podium by taking third place with a time of 45:11.3 after finishing sixth earlier.

Utah topped the team standings with a total of 95 points, followed by Dartmouth with 76 points and Colorado with 59 points.

The Wildcats will have several weeks off before concluding their season at the US Spring National Championships & SuperTour Finals in Lake Placid, New York, scheduled from March 26 to March 30.
