Michael Rogers recently engaged in a discussion with Jim Voss, co-owner of Hydro-Chem Systems, on the SBAM Weekly Podcast. Hydro-Chem Systems, an employee-owned company, focuses on the manufacture and installation of vehicle washing equipment as well as the production of soaps and chemicals for large vehicles such as semi-trucks and buses. Established in 1971, the company operates nationwide with a workforce of approximately 50 employees.

Voss highlighted the significance of teamwork and customer service within their business model. He stated, "Over half of our people are fully vested from a stockholder perspective, and everyone around the room is at least partially invested." He further explained that this structure fosters a sense of accountability among employees: "So when I look around and see my fellow employees, I realize I’m answering to each of them in addition to the Board of Directors. We really have to operate as a team, and it makes us mission oriented."

The podcast episode featuring Voss is part of the Small Business Association of Michigan’s series that offers insights from experts on entrepreneurial success. The series provides tips and advice for small business owners aiming to enhance their effectiveness.
