Kraftson leads NMU men's nordic ski team in SuperTour Finals 40k race

The NMU men's nordic ski team concluded its season at the SuperTour Finals held in Lake Placid, New York. The team participated in the 40k classic mass start race, an event that witnessed 57 finishers out of 78 skiers.

Adrik Kraftson led the Wildcat skiers, ranking 7th among collegiate participants and 17th overall with a time of 2:02:49.9. "Kraftson started the race in 22nd before slipping to 26th by the 10k marker. The CCSA Skier of the Year made up time the rest of the way, moving up to 20th by the 13.75k marker and staying in that position until the 26.25k marker, where he leaped 17th. Kraftson would go on to jump to 16th and fall to 18th in the final handful of splits before finishing in the 17 spot."

Kristoffer Karsrud was the next NMU skier to finish, placing 10th among collegiate skiers and 25th overall with a time of 2:05:47.6. Karsrud "opened in 18th at the first marker before falling to 29th just 1.25k later before falling to 33rd by the 7.5k mark. Karsrud climbed to land in 26th by the 17.5k mark, and would remain in the 25/26 spot the rest of the way."

Jonathan Clarke and Luke Fricker closely followed, finishing in 39th and 40th overall. They placed 14th and 15th among college skiers, clocking in at 2:12:07.3 and 2:12:18.1, respectively.

The race concluded with a close finish. John Hegenbuch from the Dartmouth Ski Team took first place with a time of 1:51:06.5, narrowly beating Gus Schumacher of the APU Nordic Ski Team who finished at 1:51:07.4. Remi Drolet of SMS came in third with a time of 1:51:24.0.
