A lottery club from Kent County has won a $2.86 million Lotto 47 jackpot from the Michigan Lottery. The three-person group matched all six numbers in the November 27, 2024 drawing: 08-10-20-21-34-35. The winning ticket was purchased at Coit Libation Station in Grand Rapids.

The club's representative shared their excitement, stating, “We have been playing together for about two years. The night of the drawing, I checked the numbers around 10 p.m. and realized we had won." Initially texting his fellow members, he soon decided to call them to confirm it wasn't a prank.

The group, known as the CMS Group lottery club, formed two years ago despite having known each other for many years. “It’s a really amazing feeling to hit a huge jackpot like this together!” said the representative.

Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli congratulated the winners: “The only thing better than winning a Lotto 47 jackpot is winning it with your friends.”

Upon visiting Lottery headquarters to claim their prize, they opted for a one-time lump sum payment of approximately $2 million instead of annuity payments. After taxes, each member received about $475,000.

The winnings will be used by the club members to pay bills and save for an earlier retirement.

Lotto 47 tickets cost $1 per play with players selecting six numbers from one to 47. Jackpots start at $1 million and increase until claimed. Additional options include Double Play and EZMatch for extra chances to win prizes up to $1.5 million or $500 instantly respectively. Drawings occur on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 7:29 p.m., with tickets available until 7:08 p.m. on draw days both in-store and online at MichiganLottery.com.
