With four games remaining in the regular season, the Northern Michigan University (NMU) men's basketball team is set to face another challenging opponent. The Wildcats will travel to No. 22 Michigan Tech on Thursday, February 20, aiming to secure a postseason home court advantage.

The Wildcats, currently holding a record of 16-8 overall and 10-6 in conference play, recently suffered defeats against No. 15 Lake Superior State and No. 20 Ferris State at home. Head Coach Matt Majkrzak emphasized the importance of the upcoming game: "We have to get hot, and that streak needs to start Thursday...I hope we can be within a couple points down the stretch and we'll find out if we can pull it off."

Dylan Kuehl has been a standout player for NMU, scoring 25 points against Lake Superior State and achieving a career-high of 31 points against Ferris State. He ranks eighth in the conference with an average of 16.2 points per game and has surpassed the milestone of 1,000 career points this season.

Michigan Tech leads the GLIAC standings with an 18-6 overall record and a perfect home record of 11-0. The Huskies are averaging 82.1 points per game at home with an average winning margin of 19.4 points. Junior guard Marcus Tomashek leads their offense with an impressive average of 23.9 points per game.

The rivalry between NMU and Michigan Tech spans over a century, with NMU holding a historical edge in their matchups. However, Michigan Tech has won their last two encounters.
