A Wayne County resident has won a $1.3 million Lotto 47 jackpot from the Michigan Lottery, describing the win as a "dream come true." The anonymous winner matched the numbers 04-08-17-28-36-43 drawn on January 8 to secure the jackpot. The winning ticket was purchased at Mac’s II Inc., located in Taylor.
The 54-year-old winner shared, “I have played this set of numbers for four years,” adding that upon scanning his ticket and seeing confetti on the Lottery app, he thought: “This is a dream come true!” He expressed that winning provides financial freedom for him and his family.
Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli commented on the win, stating, “The Lotto 47 game was incredibly lucky for players last year, with eight players winning the game’s jackpot. It looks like that luck is continuing into 2025! Congratulations to the lucky player and his family on their big win!”
The winner visited Lottery headquarters to claim his prize, opting for a one-time lump sum payment of approximately $901,000 instead of annuity payments. He plans to use his winnings to pay bills and take an extended family vacation.
Lotto 47 offers plays at $1 each, where players select six numbers from one to 47. The jackpot starts at $1 million and increases until it is won. Players can add Double Play or EZMatch options for additional chances to win more prizes. Drawings occur every Wednesday and Saturday evening.
