The Northern Michigan University women's basketball team is preparing for a rivalry game against Michigan Tech on Thursday, February 20. The Wildcats, who have won their last five games, are set to play at 5:30 p.m. in Houghton.

Northern Michigan (12-4 in conference play and 18-6 overall) recently secured victories over Lake Superior State and Ferris State. They will face the Michigan Tech Huskies (7-9 in conference play and 10-14 overall), who defeated Lake Superior State 75-62 in their latest outing.

Fans can watch the game on Fox-UP with commentary from Mark Evans and Dave Ellis or stream it on FloHoops. Casey Ford will provide radio coverage on 100.3 The Point.

Casey Thousand, discussing the upcoming match, said, "It's just going up there, taking care of business, doing what we do, and keeping it the Northern way."

Currently second in the GLIAC standings behind Grand Valley (15-1), Northern has already secured a postseason berth and aims to secure home-court advantage for the quarterfinals. Alyssa Hill led her team over the weekend with an average of 16.5 points per game.

Jacy Weisbrod continues to lead NMU's scoring efforts with an average of 13.4 points per game. She ranks ninth in the conference and is recognized as a strong three-point shooter nationally.

On defense, NMU allows only 57.4 points per game and limits opponents to a shooting percentage of just 26.9% from beyond the arc—the best mark in the GLIAC.

Michigan Tech's leading scorer Isabella Lenz averages 14.3 points per game while freshman Kendall Standfest has been impressive recently with standout performances including a perfect shooting night against LSSU.

Head coach Sam Clayton leads Michigan Tech into this matchup after ending their four-game losing streak last Saturday.

Historically, Northern holds a narrow deficit against Michigan Tech with an all-time record of 54-56 but broke a long losing streak last season and won earlier this season in Marquette.
