An intense game against Ferris State saw the Northern Michigan women's basketball team extend their winning streak to five games with a decisive 75-48 victory on Senior Day. This win allowed NMU to break their tie with the Bulldogs in league standings, taking sole control of second place.

The Wildcats maintained the lead for most of the game, dominating in rebounds and points in the paint. They shot 45.1% from the field compared to Ferris' 26.2%. Alyssa Hill led NMU with a season-high 19 points and nine rebounds, scoring significantly in the first half.

Alyssa Nimz and Sydney Whitehouse also contributed with double figures, each scoring 10 points. For Ferris, three players reached double figures, each with 10 points.

In a strong start, Hill and Nimz scored the first ten points for Northern. Despite Ferris' attempts to keep up, NMU finished the first quarter with a commanding lead after a 13-0 run.

Hill continued her performance into the second quarter alongside triples from Sarah Newcomer and CJ Romero. The Wildcats ended the half leading by a wide margin.

Although Ferris started strong in the third quarter, NMU maintained their lead thanks to contributions from Whitehouse and Newcomer. Despite being Northern's lowest-scoring quarter, they remained ahead at its end.

The fourth quarter saw further efforts from Weisbrod and others as both teams committed multiple fouls early on. The Wildcats secured their victory with contributions from Mackenzie Holzwart, Addison Pytleski, and Madison Schroeder.

This win places NMU at an overall record of 18-6 and 12-4 in conference play while dropping Ferris to 17-8 overall and 11-5 in league play.

The Wildcats will next face rival Michigan Tech on Thursday, February 20th, in Houghton.
