The NMU men's nordic ski team participated in the conference championship in Houghton, Michigan, with a 20k mass start event. Adrik Kraftson led the team by finishing fourth with a time of 55:31.2. He initially held the first position after two laps but settled into fourth place by the end.
Michigan Tech's Tryg Solberg and Colin Freed secured the top two positions, benefiting from their familiarity with the local trails. Chase High from College of St. Scholastica finished third.
Luke Fricker was the next best for NMU, finishing seventh with a time of 57:25.9. Jonathan Clarke placed 13th at 58:51.9, while Kristoffer Karsrud, Hendrik Peterson, and Mathias Haugen completed the race in 27th, 28th, and 29th places respectively.
The team is set to compete in the 7.5k individual classic event tomorrow at 11:30 a.m., also taking place in Houghton.
