NMU women's Nordic team concludes competition at Gitchi Gami Games SuperTour

The NMU women's Nordic ski team recently concluded its participation in the Gitchi Gami Games SuperTour, which featured a 20km mass start event. Henriette Nilssen led the team, securing first place among Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) skiers and finishing 11th overall with a time of 1:00:17.6. Her lap times were recorded as 8:53.6, 18:40.3 (9:46.7), and 28:38.6 (9:58.3).

Pearl Harvey followed as the next Wildcat to finish, placing fourth among CCSA skiers and 18th overall with a time of 1:03:38.9, posting lap markers of 9:20.9, 19:48.3 (10:27.4), and 30:26.7 (10:38.4). Ella Niznik did not start.

In the Freestyle Skate 10km event on day three, Nilssen finished ninth overall with a time of 26:47.4, recording lap times of 8:19.6, 17:25.6 (9:06), and 26:19.6 (8:54). Harvey completed this race in the 19th position overall with times of 8:36, 18:07.4 (9:31), and 27:42.7 (9:35). Niznik rounded out her performance by finishing in the top-55 overall.

During day two's Classic Sprint event, Nilssen achieved a semifinal heat time of 3:35.62 after advancing from her quarterfinal heat with a time of 3:36.54; she placed sixth among athletes under age twenty-three.

Jordan Parent and Pearl Harvey competed in the same quarterfinal heat for this sprint event but did not advance past it; Parent secured a qualifying time of approximately three minutes forty-five seconds while Harvey finished eighth within her division.

On day one’s Freestyle Sprint competition neither Nilssen nor teammates participated due to DNS status.
